College Basketball – Israeli Style – Comes to the USA

October, 2004--The Israel at Heart organization is sponsoring a men’s basketball tour to the United States this November. It has assembled a team comprised of students from the Interdisciplinary Center (Herzelia), Tel-Aviv University, and Ben Gurion University from Beer Sheva. The Israel at Heart National Select student team will play nine games at NCAA colleges in the Boston and New York City areas.

The Interdisciplinary Center (IDC), Tel-Aviv University, and Ben Gurion compete in the Israel Academic Sports Association (ASA).

Israel at Heart is sponsoring the trip to promote a better understanding of Israel and its people to American university students. Following each game will be a program where American students will get to speak to the Israeli student-athletes about day-to-day life in the Holy Land.

The Israel at Heart National Select student team is coached by Ilan Kowalsky, a former national team and professional coach in the Israeli 1^st division. Kowalsky is in his 8^th season as the athletic director of the IDC.
