You Can Represent the USA at the World Maccabiah Games!!

Online Applications for USA Maccabiah Juniors Boys Basketball Team now available at www.maccabiusa.com

PHILADELPHIA – Online applications for the Junior Boys Basketball Team, which will represent the United States at the 18th World Maccabiah Games, are now being accepted. Eligible participants must be born in 1993 or 1994. The World Maccabiah Games will take place in Israel from July 13-23, 2009. The USA delegation will leave for Israel for a pre-camp around July 2nd and a training camp will be held in before that. Although dates are not yet confirmed, t ryouts for the team will take place in September 2008 in Los Angeles, Chicago and Philadelphia.

Brian ‘Shifty’ Schiff, who led the USA Junior Maccabi teams to gold medals at the 9th, 10th & 11th Pan Am Maccabi Games and 16th & 17th World Maccabiah Games, will coach the team. Schiff is also the long-time gold-medal-winning coach of the Philadelphia team at the JCC Maccabi Games.

Additionally, there will be basketball teams in the “Youth” boys division (born in 1991-92), Open Men (anyone), Open Women (anyone), Junior Girls (born 1991-94) and Masters (over 40). There are a variety of other sports as well.
