Gofman to be Lone Israeli Gymnast in Athens
December 23, 2003--Pavel Gofman will be the only gymnast to represent Israel at the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics, the first Israeli gymnast to make the Olympics since Ron Kaplan in Barcelona 1992.
Levine Signs with Detroit
December 23, 2003--In baseball news, Relief pitcher Al Levine and the Detroit Tigers agreed last week to a one-year contract that guarantees him $925,000.
Israeli Bobsled Team Performs Well
December 23, 2003--With Aaron Zeff at the helm and former 49er John Frank acting as pusher and brakeman, the Israeli bobsled team managed surprising 5th and 6th place finishes, in a 12 team field, in two races at the Federation Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobaganning America's Cup in Calgary last weekend.

November 25, 2003--Maryland freshman PG Shay Doron set an NCAA record with 23 made free throws in the Terps' season-opening 79-64 victory over Coppin St.
Kasten Resigns
November 25, 2003--Stan Kasten, one of the highest ranking Jews in Sports over the last 25 years, left his posts last week. He was the only person in pro sports history to simultaneously serve as president of three major-league teams, resigned as president of the Braves, Hawks and Thrashers and chairman of Philips Arena, effective immediately.
4 Jews Lead Yale in Close Loss to UConn
November 18, 2003--Yale's 4 Jewish players played a prominent role in the Elis' hard-fought 10 point loss last night. Paul Vitelli, Sam Kaplan, Justin Simon and Matt Minoff combined for 20 points and 15 rebounds.
Cohen Wins Skate America
October 26, 2003-- Sasha Cohen won her third Grand Prix competition and her first Skate America title Saturday night. The American, who turns 19 today, also won the overall series crown in 2002.
Younger Modell to Resign When Elder Sells Team
October 5, 2003--Coinciding with his father's sale of his share of the Ravens' to a minority owner, team president David Modell will step down from his role at the end of the season. Both David and his father Art will remain with the team on a consultative basis. The Modell family has been an integral part of the NFL for more than 43 years, including David's 28 years of service to the Brown/Raven franchise.
