Horowitz Named All-American

June 20, 2004--Duke Sophomore Clara Horowitz placed 5th in last week's NCAA
5000m run to conclude the season. Her finish, in a time of 16:34.44, earned
her a spot on the All-American team, becoming only the 4th Duke woman to earn
such an honor, joining Jewish pole vaulter Jillian Schwartz (2000-01).
Fuld Drafted by Cubs in 10th
June 16, 2004--Stanford OF Sam Fuld went in the 10th round to the Chicago Cubs
in last week's MLB Draft. The 5-10 senior hit .273 this season, battling injuries
throughout the year.
Youkilis Named AL Rookie of the Month
June 3, 2004--3B Kevin

Youkilis
was named AL Rookie of the Month for May, despite only being called up by the
Red Sox on May 15th. Youkilis scored a AL rookie-high 15 runs in his first 13
MLB games and hit .318 with 4 2Bs, 1 HR and 7 RBIs after being recalled from
AAA Pawtucket.
Youkilis HRs in MLB Debut
May 16, 2004--In his major league debut for the Red Sox yesterday, Kevin Youkilis,
a former U of Cincinnati star, homered and finished 2-4. The 3B had been hitting
.268 in Pawtucket.
Maccabi Tel Aviv Wins Euroleague
May 3, 2004--In dominating fashion, Maccabi Tel Aviv beat Skipper Bologna 118-74
to win the Euroleague championship on Saturday night. It is coach Pini Gershon's
2nd European championship.
Olshansky Goes in Early 2nd Round
April 25, 2004--Oregon DT Igor Olshansky, a Ukrainian immigrant who was regarded
as one of the strongest players in college football this past season, will stay
on the west coast after being chosen by the Chargers with the 3rd pick of the
2nd round (35th overall)

Rothbart Signs with IU
April 25, 2004--Earlier this week, Robert Rothbart, a 7-footer living in the
Bay Area, who was born in Sarajevo, signed to play college basketball for the
Indiana University Hoosiers.
Farmar Finishes with 7 Steals in McD's Game
April 2, 2004--UCLA signee Jordan Farmar, who became the first Jew to play in
the McDonald's All American game earlier this week, finished with a game high
7 steals and led his West team in assists.
Inbar Wins D2 PoY
April 2, 2004--UMass-Lowell's Elad Inbar was named the Division II Player of
the Year last week, only the 4th Jewish player ever to be a collegiate player
of the year. The last Jewish hoopster to win such an award was Mike Schantz
from Division 3 Hamilton College.
Doron Named Head Coach at Villanova
April 2, 2004--Gilad Doron, an Israeli National Team Volleyball player and Assistant
Coach at Temple University, was named the Head Coach for Villanova University's
women's team.
