2 Bronzes So Far for Jews in Athens
August 19, 2004--Israeli judoka Arik Ze'evi won Israel its first Olympic medal in the Athens Games on Thursday, after defeating Dutch opponent Elco Van Der Geest in the men's 100-kg judo competition. This adds to the bronze that Sada Jacobson won earlier in the games in Saber Fencing, becoming one of the first (along with the gold medal winner) US women to ever win a medal in fencing.

August 8, 2004--Ukrainian sprinter Zhanna Block will appear in the September issue of Playboy Magazine's "Women of the Olympics" feature section
Two Jews Break Records
July 11, 2004--Jason Lezak and Philip Rabinowitz both made history yesterday. At the US Olympic Swimming Trials, in the 100 freestyle semifinals, Lezak set an American record at 48.17 seconds. A few hours earlier, over in South Africa, Cape Town native Rabinowitz broke the centarian world record in the 100m dash with a time of 30.86 seconds.
Bluthenthal, Others in NBA Summer Leagues
July 6, 2004--This summer, three Jews will try to make NBA squads in summer league action. Yaniv Green (6-9 PF) will be with the Detroit Pistons, and David Bluthenthal (6-7 SF) will be a Sacramento King, while Amit Tamir (6-10 PF) will play for the Orlando Magic.
MLB Update: Youkilis Down?
June 29, 2004--Up in Boston, the Globe is reporting that Kevin Youkilis will likely be recalled to AAA Pawtucket once Bill Mueller returns from the DL. The Boston brass wants him to play regularly rather than sit the bench.
