The men's Maccabiah basketball team won the Gold Medal at the games for the 1st time since 1985. Doug Gottlieb was named the MVP after the 82-71 championship game victory over Israel. Australia beat France for the Bronze Medal, 73-64.
Several changes in the roster were made prior to taking off for Israel as the violence in the region caused many cancellations.
